Episode 5: What Color is Green?

Download | Duration: 00:15:47

In this podcast, environmental activist Christopher Maeda-Pease and I reflect on the socio-economic and political dynamics and issues of the green movement as it pertains to people of color. I met Christopher in 2005 as part of a national biodiesel bus that was touring the country. Since that time, We have been speakers at Bioneers for two years in a row and engage in long discussions about the earth over tea and food he has grown in his garden.

In this podcast, we entertain questions such as is there such a thing as eco-capitalism? Who has access as our resources dwindle? Who is at the table of the environmental movement? Do the definitions of green change depending on where you sit? Does the mainstream environmental movement translate to urban issues and working poor? We discuss environmentalism as part of a larger view of our story as human beings on the planet.
